Learn to rope without the guesswork.
Roper Rookie pairs beginner-friendly gear with a plain-English field guide, so your first loops, first throws, and first runs in the pen all feel a little less intimidating.
The Field Guide
Four stages from your very first loop to your first live run. Move at your own pace — there's no wrong speed.
Learn to build a loop
Get comfortable with how a rope feels, how to hold it, and how to build a loop that opens the same way every time.
Swing with rhythm
Timing matters more than strength. Practice a steady swing until it feels automatic and your shoulders stay relaxed.
Throw at a dummy
Use a stationary practice dummy to work on aim and release before anything moves.
Take it to the pen
When your throws are consistent, move to live practice with an experienced roper nearby.

"I'd tried two other beginner ropes and they fought me every time. This one finally behaves like the ropes our instructors use."
— Marcy T., Pueblo, CO
"Bought the starter kit for my son. After three weeks he's roping the dummy consistently."
Dale H., Lubbock, TX"Shipped fast and showed up before our weekend clinic. The dummy stand is sturdier than it looks."
Jace R., Stephenville, TXCommon Questions
What rope should a total beginner start with?
A soft-lay 25ft practice rope. It's forgiving on the swing and easier to coil than a stiff competition rope.
Do you ship to Canada?
Not yet. We ship within the continental United States and are evaluating international shipping.
What is your return policy?
Unused gear in original condition can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund, minus original shipping.
Is the practice dummy adjustable?
Yes. The stand height adjusts from 30" to 42" to simulate different cattle sizes as you progress.
